About Jericho, NY

Jericho has a long history of settlement that dates back to the 1600s. The hamlet was originally part of a plantation owned by Robert Williams and established in 1648. The area was settled by English Quakers who cultivated farmland and built homesteads. 

Over the centuries, Jericho has seen significant development that continues to this day. It has become a bedroom community of New York City thanks to its easy access to Manhattan and other parts of New York via the Long Island Expressway and the Northern State Parkway.
